Effective
January 2002, the City of Sarasota and Sarasota County were
awarded an Enterprise Zone. The Enterprise Zone on Nominated
Area is approximately 1.44 square miles and has a continuous
boundary.
The Nominated Area is located from Myrtle Street South to
10th Street, between U.S. 41 (North Tamiami Trail) and Leonard
Reid Avenue, more particularly described as follows: Commence
at the intersection of U.S. 41 (North Tamiami Trail) and 10th
Street; Thence North and Northwest along U.S. 41 to the intersection
of U.S. 41 and Myrtle Street; Thence East along Myrtle Street,
to the intersection of U.S. 301 (North Washington Boulevard)
and Myrtle Street: Thence continue East to the Seminole Gulf
Railway; Thence Southeast along said Railway to the intersection
with 17th Street and said Railway; Thence West along 17th
Street to the intersection of U.S. 301 and 17th Street; Thence
North along U.S. 301, to the intersection of U.S. 301 and
18th Street; Thence West along 18th Street to the intersection
of North Orange Avenue and 18th Street; Thence North along
North Orange Avenue to the intersection of North Orange Avenue
and 19th Street; Thence West along 19th Street to the intersection
of Central Avenue and 19th Street; Thence South along Central
Avenue to the intersection of 10th Street and Central Avenue;
Thence West along 10th Street to the intersection of U.S.
41 and 10th Street; said intersection being the point of Commencement,
Being and lying in Sections 7, 8, 17, and 18, Township 36
South, Range 18 East, and Sections 12 and 13, Township 36
South, Range 17 East, Sarasota County, Florida.
