The City Commission of the City of Sarasota is seeking individuals willing to serve on the following Advisory Boards:
Board of Rules and Appeals
Three seats with the following requirements:
- one seat - licensed mechanical contractor (Currently vacant)
- one seat - licensed fire alarm contractor (Currently vacant)
- one seat - licensed electrical contractor
(Currently vacant)
Employee Retirement Account Committee
The purpose of the committee is to provide oversight of the Defined Contribution Plan and make recommendations regarding such matters as administration and investment parameters.
- Two seats with trust banking or investment management experience preferred.
Human Relations Board
One seat with no requirement (Current member not eligible)
Parks, Recreation and Environmental Protection Advisory Board
- One seat with no requirement
SHIP Affordable Housing Advisory Board
The purpose of the Committee is to review the established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and adopted local government comprehensive plan of the appointing local government and to recommend specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.
Eleven seats with the following requirements:
- One citizen who is actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing.
- One citizen who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing.
- One citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing.
-One citizen who is actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing.
- One citizen who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing. - One citizen who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing.
- One citizen who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing.
- One citizen who actively serves on the local planning agency pursuant to s. 163.3174. If the local planning agency is comprised of the governing board of the county or municipality, the governing board may appoint a designee who is knowledgeable in the local planning process.
- One citizen who resides within the jurisdiction of the local governing body making the appointments.
- One citizen who represents employers within the jurisdiction.
- One citizen who represents essential services personnel, as defined in the local housing assistance plan.
