The
award winning Communications Division is dedicated to transparency
and openness in government,
by providing accurate information in a timely manner. Whether it
is a much anticipated park opening, a change in the solid waste collection
schedule or an upcoming process involving citizens’ input, the
Communications Division disseminates information to the community in
a variety of ways.
Media Relations The
Communications Division works directly with media outlets providing
accurate responses to reporters’ questions
in a timely fashion. The Public Information Officer also keeps
the media informed about City Commission agenda items and suggests
news story ideas about what is happening within the City of Sarasota, and writes and disseminates news releases.
