The City of Sarasota, Mote Marine Laboratory and the HuB teamed up to show Google and the nation that Sarasota should be chosen as the test market site for the company’s proposed ultra high-speed internet service. After Vice Mayor Kelly Kirschner and Dr. Gary Kirkpatrick, Mote phytoplankton ecology program director, discussed how Google fiber could enhance the Sarasota community, including bolstering Mote’s shark research, Mayor Richard Clapp jumped in the shark tank and swam with the sharks.
