VAN WEZEL TICKET GIVEAWAY
AT NEWTOWN REDEVELOPMENT OFFICE

Sarasota, FL: Broadway entertainer Frenchie Davis will visit Newtown this weekend to participate in a unique opportunity to help expand patron diversity at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Ms. Davis will give away 100 free tickets to her upcoming performance “Ain’t Misbehavin” at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Tickets will be handed out on a first come first serve basis at the Newtown Redevelopment Office, 1782 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way, on Sat., January 3, 2009 starting at noon. The tickets will be for the performance of “Ain’t Misbehavin” the following day, Sun., January 4th.

“It is vital that the Van Wezel is a home to all people of all ages and cultures,” said Mary Bensel, Executive Director of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. “Whether it is to see the "Munich Symphony", " Bob The Builder" or "Dame Edna" in her "First Last Tour". Everyone is welcome here. The theater has the ability to bring everyone together and gives us the ability to embrace diversity in the best of ways.

Frenchie Davis launched her musical career in 2003 when she sang her way to a semi-finalist spot on “American Idol”. That same year, she went on to appear as a cast member in the Broadway musical hit “Rent”. Currently, she is starring in the 30th anniversary national tour of the musical review “Ain’t Misbehavin”.
