MANASOTA LEAGUE OF CITIES HOSTS CANDIDATE FORUM

Sarasota, FL – The ManaSota League of Cities will host a candidate forum for State Representative District 69 and State Representative District 70 Thurs., October 12, 2006 9:30am – 11am at Sarasota City Hall, 1565 First Street. The public is welcome to attend.

Both candidates vying for each of the State House seats will participate in the forum.

Candidates in the District 69 election are:

Laura Benson (R)	Keith Fitzgerald (D)

Candidates in the District 70 election are:

Doug Holder (R)	David Shapiro (D)

Each candidate will be allowed to make a two-minute introductory statement. A moderator will ask 4 – 5 questions related to local government issues including affordable housing, property insurance increases and transportation funding. Each candidate will be allowed two minutes to respond. A two-minute closing statement will be permitted. Members of the public are encouraged to attend; however, they will not be allowed to ask questions.

The ManaSota League of Cities was established in 1991 and is comprised of government agencies in Manatee and Sarasota Counties, including: Anna Maria, Bradenton, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, Longboat Key, North Port, Palmetto, Sarasota, Sarasota County and Venice. Members of the ManaSota League of Cities work together on common interests for the betterment of their communities.
