DETOURS POSSIBLE WITH
LITTLE FIVE POINTS CONSTRUCTION

Sarasota - Drivers and pedestrians in the Little Five Points area of downtown Sarasota should be on the lookout for a major construction project. The stormwater project, overseen by Sarasota County, will involve heavy machinery and will require temporary detours, road closures and night work.

Residents and merchants will be provided with advanced notification of construction activities whenever possible. All businesses will be able to remain open throughout the construction, which will be complete by November. Public and private parking as well as business delivery access will be maintained throughout the project. Click here to view a map of the detour area. Utility interruptions will be scheduled at night, 9pm – 6am, to minimize impact to residents and merchants.

The stormwater project will alleviate flooding in the Little Five Points area. Street drainage will be improved along Orange Avenue, Oak Street, Pineapple Avenue and Alderman Street. A mechanism also will be installed to reduce pollution flowing into Sarasota Bay.

The $913,300 project is being funded through established Hudson Bayou Basin stormwater assessments and a cooperative grant from the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

For more information, contact the Sarasota County Call Center at 861-5000 and inquire about the Little Five Points Stormwater Improvement Project.
