CITY WELCOMES NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

Sarasota, FL: The City of Sarasota will host the 25th annual National Night Out Against Crime Tues., August 5, 2008 from 6pm – 9pm at Payne Park. Residents are invited to enjoy free food, entertainment, giveaways and, of course, fun.

“National Night Out Against Crime is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs and strengthen police-community partnerships,” says Ronda Hayes, Neighborhood Coordinator for the City of Sarasota. “We encourage all residents to attend. It’s going to be fun. And, there will even be a bounce house for the kids,” Hayes added.

National Night Out was introduced by the National Association of Town Watch in 1983. More than 12,000 communities throughout the U.S. and Canada are expected to participate this year. It is estimated more than 35.4 million people took part last year in National Night Out events.
