CITY SEEKS MORE INPUT
ON NEWTOWN INITIATIVE

Sarasota, FL: The City of Sarasota invites residents and business owners to continue participating in forums to create significant sustainable changes in North Sarasota. Action committee meetings will be held over the next several weeks to continue the dialogue and develop strategies in five areas determined by the community to be high priorities: economic development, law enforcement, neighborhoods, social services and youth services.

Each of the first two community meetings, held recently in North Sarasota, attracted more than 100 people. All were committed to creating “A New Day in Newtown”. Since the discussion began, the community renamed the initiative “A New Beginning for Newtown”.

During the most recent community meeting, held February 23rd, participants prioritized their ideas and solutions for Newtown. The upcoming committee meetings will specifically address those priorities and begin putting ideas into action.

Please attend any or all of the action committee meetings and invite a friend or neighbor to be a part of “A New Beginning for Newtown”. All meetings will be held at the Newtown Redevelopment Office located at 1782 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way:

• Economic Development: Monday, March 24th 5:30pm
• Law Enforcement: Tuesday March 25th 5:30pm
• Neighborhoods: Wednesday March 26th 5:30pm
• Social Services To Be Announced
• Youth Services To Be Announced

The social services and youth services action committee meetings are expected to be scheduled for early April. Notices will be issued once the dates are confirmed.
