During the 40-minute news conference, Mayor Lou Ann Palmer and Sports Facilities Director Pat Calhoon discussed the history of the proposals to keep the Cincinnati Reds in Sarasota. They also addressed the future of Ed Smith Stadium and possible uses for it. Virginia Haley, Executive Director of the Sarasota Visitor & Convention Bureau, talked with reporters about tourism and the challenge of replacing the Reds’ economic impact to the region.
