CITY DEDICATES
WATERFRONT PARKS

Sarasota, FL – The City of Sarasota will dedicate the Ringling Causeway Bridge Parks Mon., September 25, 2006 at 4pm. The dedication will take place on the east side of the bridge next to Hart’s Landing.

The east and the west parks were constructed during and after the construction of the Ringling Bridge. Funding for the estimated $1 million project came from the City of Sarasota, the Florida Department of Transportation and private donations, including one donation of $200,000.

The Ringling Causeway Bridge Parks were designed to create access to beautiful Sarasota Bay. The parks provide an additional three acres of waterfront park space within the City of Sarasota. Already, they are popular places to jog, picnic, and fish.

With the addition of the Ringling Causeway Bridge Parks, the City of Sarasota continues to showcase its dedication to providing public parks for all to enjoy. Fredd “Glossie” Atkins Park opened last June in north Sarasota, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held earlier this month for Payne Park in downtown.
