| Sarasota,
FL: A 12 week business training course, focusing on essential
information local entrepreneurs need to know to be successful,
will get underway August 17, 2010 in North Sarasota. Known
as the Community Opportunity Entrepreneur (CEO) business
training program, the course concentrates on the ins and
outs of local business success. The sessions will be held
every Tuesday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newtown Selby Goodwill,
1781 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The course is free and
open to entrepreneurs considering launching a small business
as well as those who are already in business.
During the three month course, sessions will
be taught by experienced instructors and local business professionals
who will share their knowledge about the realities of owning
and running a small business. Participants will learn about
identifying target markets; developing financial projections
to determine the viability of a business; business licenses;
compiling a business plan; and a marketing strategy. The CEO
program is an excellent opportunity for current business owners
to brush up on their basic skills and consider the next step
for their business.
An orientation class will be held Tuesday,
August 3, 2010 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Newtown Selby Goodwill,
where all the courses will be conducted. Participants will
be expected to attend the weekly three hour courses from August

Launched in 2005, the CEO program supports
start-up and existing small businesses in Sarasota, with the
understanding that a thriving business translates into a healthier
local economy. It is sponsored by CHASE, allowing it to be
free for participants. The program is administered through
a collaboration between the Suncoast Workforce and the City
of Sarasota.
