BUSINESS TRAINING PROGRAM
FOCUSES ON KEYS TO SUCCESS

Sarasota, FL: A 12 week business training course, focusing on essential information local entrepreneurs need to know to be successful, will get underway August 17, 2010 in North Sarasota. Known as the Community Opportunity Entrepreneur (CEO) business training program, the course concentrates on the ins and outs of local business success. The sessions will be held every Tuesday 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newtown Selby Goodwill, 1781 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The course is free and open to entrepreneurs considering launching a small business as well as those who are already in business.

During the three month course, sessions will be taught by experienced instructors and local business professionals who will share their knowledge about the realities of owning and running a small business. Participants will learn about identifying target markets; developing financial projections to determine the viability of a business; business licenses; compiling a business plan; and a marketing strategy. The CEO program is an excellent opportunity for current business owners to brush up on their basic skills and consider the next step for their business.

An orientation class will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Newtown Selby Goodwill, where all the courses will be conducted. Participants will be expected to attend the weekly three hour courses from August 17 through November 2. To learn more about the CEO program and to reserve a seat, contact Dru Jones in the Newtown Redevelopment Office: 941-365-2200 ext. 3222.

Launched in 2005, the CEO program supports start-up and existing small businesses in Sarasota, with the understanding that a thriving business translates into a healthier local economy. It is sponsored by CHASE, allowing it to be free for participants. The program is administered through a collaboration between the Suncoast Workforce and the City of Sarasota.
