The community
is invited to attend the grand opening for the much anticipated
Payne Park Sat., October 6, 2007 noon -10pm. A ribbon cutting
ceremony at 1pm will be followed by the Sarasota High School
marching band leading the crowd around the new half-mile walking/running
trail within the park.

The citizens’ “parade” will
end at the tennis courts where a second ribbon cutting ceremony
will occur at 2pm. The remainder of the day and night will
be filled with many varied live bands, free tennis, a skateboard
exhibition, dance competition, merchandise and information
booths and plenty of food. The movie “Night at the
Museum”, presented by the Sarasota Film Festival, will
be shown outdoors on a two-story screen after 8pm.
