CONTRACT EMPLOYEE TO HELP SCHEDULE
VAN WEZEL
2007-08 SEASON
Sarasota - The City of Sarasota has brought
on Douglas G. Logan as a contract employee to assist with
the completion of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall 2007-2008
season.
Mr. Logan has more than 30 years of experience in the planning
and management of entertainment, performing arts and sports
venues. Were excited about the talent and experience
he brings, said City Manager Michael McNees. With
the existing Van Wezel staff, John Wesley White and now
Mr. Logan, the Hall is in exceptionally good hands during
this transition period.
Mr. Logan currently is the managing member
of New York-based Empresario, LLC where he produces touring
attractions, including a circus targeted for Latino audiences.
He was the founding Commissioner of Major League Soccer,
and has served as a consultant to many professional sports
organizations. While living in Mexico City, he managed the
largest concert promotion company in Mexico, which included
a staff of more than 500 employees and an annual budget
of $55 million. Mr. Logan also has served as a concert tour
promoter for major entertainers.
Mr. Logan has a Bachelor of Science degree
in civil engineering from Manhattan College and a law degree
from the University of Baltimore. He has lectured on sports
managements issues at Harvard University.
Mr. Logan served in the 101st Airborne Division
in Vietnam. He was awarded six decorations including two
Bronze Stars for valor in combat.
