CREW REMOVES DISEASED TREE;
ROAD CLOSURE REQUIRED

Sarasota, FL:  A diseased Laurel Oak tree, located at 1115 Osprey Avenue, will be removed from City of Sarasota right-of-way on Thurs., Sept. 2nd, requiring lane closures.  Both the north and southbound lanes of Osprey Avenue between Bahia Vista and Irving Street will be closed 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 2nd and Fri., Sept. 3rd.

After studying the tree, a City arborist determined it is approximately 50 percent hollow in the trunk and the base.  The canopy overhangs the street and several large limbs have already fallen on the road and sidewalk, posing a public safety concern.  Due to the size of the tree and the deteriorating condition, both lanes of traffic will be closed while crews work to remove it.
