Dr.
Miller is the first African American to serve as Interim
Assistant City Manager. He was appointed by Interim City
Manager V. Peter Schneider. “I am thankful to Peter
Schneider for the opportunity to work with him and for me
to be that first African American,” said Dr. Miller.
Dr. Miller enters his new position with 14 years of senior
management experience. He served as Executive Director of
Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities, Inc., a human service
agency in New York City. Prior to that, he was a Vice President
with MTA/New York City Transit, which employs more than 55,000
people. Dr. Miller was also the Executive Director of the
Human Rights Commission in Suffolk County, New York.
Dr. Miller is active with the NAACP and Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
His extensive community involvement has been recognized by
such organizations as the Urban League of Long Island, the
City University of New York, Time Warner Cable TV, the Central
Island Branch of the NAACP and the National Association for
Equal Opportunity in Higher Education.
He received his undergraduate degree from York College.
Dr. Miller also earned a Master of Arts from Brooklyn College
and a Doctoral Degree from the Union Institute and University
in Cincinnati, Ohio.
