FINANCE DEPARTMENT
EARNS TWO AWARDS
Sarasota, FL: The City of Sarasota Finance Department
was honored with two prestigious awards by the Government
Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada:
the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and the Certificate
of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. “These
two awards are very impressive. It’s a tribute to
our high standards that we have received these awards,” said
City Manager Robert Bartolotta. “We have a transparent
government. Our budget is available for everyone to review.
It’s heartening to see that an international organization
has recognized our accomplishments.”
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award was given
for the City’s 2006–07 fiscal year. The budget
met or exceeded guidelines in four categories: policy document,
financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
Finance Director Christopher Lyons was recognized as being
primarily responsible for the Finance Department achieving
the award. This is the 17th consecutive year the City of
Sarasota has received this award.

Reporting was given for the 2005-06 fiscal year. It is
