TRAFFIC SIGNAL ACTIVATED FULL-TIME

Sarasota, FL: The traffic signal at Fruitville Road and Mimosa Drive, across from Cardinal Mooney High School, is now a full-time operational signal. The signal will run red, yellow, green 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The direction to change the timing of the traffic signal came from the Florida Department of Transportation which oversees Fruitville Road. The City of Sarasota maintains and operates the traffic signal for FDOT.

Previously, the signal was programmed to run red, yellow, green from 7:20am to 8:00pm during weekdays and until 10pm during Cardinal Mooney Varsity football games. During weekends and school vacation, the signal was a flashing beacon.

The school speed zone will remain in effect during the arrival and dismissal of students.
