Sarasota, FL – Mayor Richard Clapp was selected to serve as President of the ManaSota League of Cities, an advocacy group for municipalities within Sarasota County and Manatee County. He was selected by fellow voting members of the League to serve a two year term as President. His duties will include serving as chairperson.
The ManaSota League of Cities has been in existence since 1991 and is comprised of Sarasota County and nine municipalities: Anna Maria, Bradenton, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, Longboat Key, North Port, Palmetto, Sarasota, and Venice. Its core purpose is to act as an advocate for local government on legislative issues. Priorities are established on common issues and concerns such as Home Rule, transportation, property taxes, and unfunded mandates.
Mayor Clapp was elected to the City Commission in 2007 and represents District 2.
