COMMUNITY INVITED TO MEET
NEWTOWN CANDIDATES
Sarasota, FL: The community is invited to meet the five finalists vying to become the new General Manager of the North Sarasota Redevelopment Division at a meet and greet Tues., February 24, 2009 5pm – 7pm at the Robert L. Taylor Complex, 1845 34th Street.
This will be an opportunity to meet each candidate one on one and discuss their qualifications and interest in working with the redevelopment of Newtown. The five candidates are:
1. Lorna Alston; Tampa, FL
Currently an economic development specialist with the City of Tampa
2. Clarence Hulse; Cocoa, FL
Recently worked as the development manager for Intrawest Placemaking in Orlando
3. Loren Kravig; Fort Wayne, IN
Recently graduated from law school; worked as the deputy director of the Northeastern Indiana Regional Coordinating Council in Fort Wayne, Indiana
4. Reginald Owens; Sedona, AZ
Currently the president and managing partner of Beaver Creek Preserve, Inc. in Sedona, Arizona
5. Jeff Streder; Chicago, IL
Recently worked as the deputy commissioner for the department of planning and development with the City of Chicago
Prior to the meet and greet, the candidates will spend the day meeting with the citizens advisory committee which was established to assist with the selection process, meeting with City directors and staff, and touring the Newtown community.
The final selection will be made by City Manager Robert Bartolotta. He hopes to hire and have the new General Manager of the North Sarasota Redevelopment Division working by April 1st.
