SARASOTA RECEIVES
NATIONAL RECOGNITION
FOR NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENT
Sarasota, FL: The City of Sarasota and Sarasota County have
been honored jointly as a National Award Winner for outstanding
participation in the 25th annual National Night Out program
to prevent crime. The award was bestowed by the National
Association of Town Watch which oversees America’s
Night Out against crime.
The Sarasota City Commission will be presented with a plaque
from the National Association of Town Watch at its next regularly
scheduled meeting Tues., February 17, 2009 at 6pm.
The 25th annual National Night Out was held in Payne Park
last summer, attracting more than one thousand citizens with
the common goal of keeping their community safe. “It’s
a community-police partnership to help people get involved
in crime prevention activities,” said Bharat Patel,
co-chair for the award winning event and vice president of
the Bayou Oaks Neighborhood Association. “Reduced crime
in neighborhoods creates safer, more caring neighborhoods.” The
2008 National Night Out event included live music, games,
and information booths within the beautiful setting of Payne
Park. Click

Houston and Oakland, CA. The award recognizes excellent neighborhood
participation, event organization and promotional coverage.
The Neighborhood and Development Services staff already
is beginning to coordinate another successful National Night
Out. Save the date: Tues., August 4, 2009 6pm – 9pm
at Payne Park.
