PUBLIC PARKING
CHANGES ANNOUNCED
Sarasota, FL: A portion of the State Street public parking
lot will be reserved for valet parking effective Mon.,
March 17, 2008. The west side of the lot, containing
68 spaces, will be reserved for valet parking and available
to the public for $3 a day. The east side of the lot,
71 spaces, will be available to the general public and
downtown employee permit holders.
Based upon action by the City Commission on May 15, 2006,
IGH Holdings, LLC was granted the exclusive use and possession
of the State Street parking lot once it received a certificate
of occupancy for a new business at the corner of State
Street and Lemon Avenue. The Hyde Park Steakhouse received
its certificate of occupancy from the City of Sarasota
Fri., March 14, 2008. Use of the valet parking service
is open to the general public and is not restricted to
Hyde Park Steakhouse patrons. Recent negotiations between
the City’s Parking Division and IGH Holdings, LLC
resulted in half the State Street parking lot continuing
to remain open to the general public and downtown employee
permit holders, at least on a temporary basis.
All five handicap parking spaces within the State Street
parking lot will be available to the general public. Three
are located directly south of the entrance and two are
within the reserved valet parking area.
The free downtown employee parking permit program is slated
at this time to continue through the current fiscal year
which ends September 30, 2008.
The First Street parking lot is now reserved for valet
parking after 6pm every evening.
The changes to the State Street parking lot are in anticipation
that IGH Holdings, LLC will construct a multi-level parking
garage with 350 public parking spaces as part of the Pineapple
Square development.
Many other public parking locations are available throughout
downtown Sarasota:
