VAN WEZEL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERSHIP,
NEW
VISION AND
TWO MAJOR NEW GIFTS
Sarasota, FL: The new leadership of the Van
Wezel Foundation was introduced for the first time at the
City Commission meeting on Monday May 19 at City Hall.
The leadership of the Foundation includes:
- Mike Martalla-Chair- President of Boar’s
Head Provisions Co., Inc.
- Phil Delaney –Vice Chair-President and Chief
Executive Officer of Northern Trust Bank Sarasota/Manatee
- Mark Famiglio-Vice Chair- Engaged in business enterprises
within the fields of real estate, information technology,
and aviation.
- Karl Newkirk-Treasurer- Retired Partner from Accenture,
LTD (formerly Andersen Consulting and Arthur Andersen)
- Sandra Dietrich-Secretary-A principal in Sarasota based
Dietrich Holdings, LLC
Also in attendance at the City Commission
meeting were the new Executive Director of the Hall, Mary
Bensel, and
the new President & CEO of the Foundation, Sheila Belknap
who pledged their support to each other, the Hall & the
greater Sarasota Community. City Manager, Bob Bartolotta, and Foundation Board Members
Mark Famiglio, Karl Newkirk & Sandra Dietrich signed
a new Memorandum of Understanding between the City and
the Foundation at the City Commission meeting. A major
highlight of the new agreement is the Foundation’s
gifts of $100,000 to sponsor the Hall’s Great Orchestra
Series and $50,000 to fund the bussing of children from
Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte Counties to the Hall’s
School Time performances. These grants are in addition
to the Foundation’s $1M pledge over 4 years to the
Hall’s education department.
“This is a marvelous day for the Van Wezel, the
Arts and the tri-county area” said Bensel. “I’m
so proud to be working so closely with Sheila Belknap
and her dedicated Board who are doing so much to keep
the Hall a vibrant part of the community especially in
these challenging times.”
“It is very exciting to have common goals agreed
upon. This allows us to focus on our mission of supporting
the hall’s education program & enhancements
to the Van Wezel Hall itself. Mary Bensel and I will
work closely, with our Boards to make a good working
relationship better,” said Sheila Belknap of the
Van Wezel Foundation.
