City Manager, Bob Bartolotta, and Foundation Board Members Mark Famiglio, Karl Newkirk & Sandra Dietrich signed a new Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the Foundation at the City Commission meeting. A major highlight of the new agreement is the Foundation’s gifts of $100,000 to sponsor the Hall’s Great Orchestra Series and $50,000 to fund the bussing of children from Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte Counties to the Hall’s School Time performances. These grants are in addition to the Foundation’s $1M pledge over 4 years to the Hall’s education department.

“This is a marvelous day for the Van Wezel, the Arts and the tri-county area” said Bensel. “I’m so proud to be working so closely with Sheila Belknap and her dedicated Board who are doing so much to keep the Hall a vibrant part of the community especially in these challenging times.”

“It is very exciting to have common goals agreed upon. This allows us to focus on our mission of supporting the hall’s education program & enhancements to the Van Wezel Hall itself. Mary Bensel and I will work closely, with our Boards to make a good working relationship better,” said Sheila Belknap of the Van Wezel Foundation.
