Mary Anne Servian was elected to to fill the unexpired term of the previous District Two Commissioner and was re-elected to serve a full term in March 2003. Ms. Servian was appointed as Mayor in April 2005. Ms. Servian's district includes the Downtown Core as well as all residential west of Tamiami Trail. Among her duties as Mayor and City Commissioner is setting the City Budget, developing legislative and policy initiatives, public speaking, serving on select boards dealing with economic development and long-term transporation issues, constituent interface and hiring and managing of Charter Officials.

Ms. Servian has been a resident of Sarasota, either part-time or full-time, since 1974 and is affiliated with the following organizations: First Step of Sarasota (Chair), Sarasota County Economic Development Board, Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization, Sarasota County Tourist Board, Florida League of Cities (Chair of Municipal Finance and Taxation Committee), State of Florida Committee on Impact Fees, City of Sarasota Public Housing, First Tee of Sarasota, Tiger Bay of Sarasota, League of Women's Voters, Civic League, Selby Gardens, John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, and Emily's List Majority Council Member.
