Downtown Sarasota - Improvements Information

Welcome to your information resource for Palm Avenue, Main Street & Five Points Project and the Palm Avenue Parking Garage. The completion of these projects will enhance the downtown by providing ample parking, safer and more walkable streets, and beautification of the area. The City of Sarasota along with the Community Redevelopment Agency, is investing $14-million that will create a downtown destination.

The five point intersection of Main Street, Pineapple Avenue and Central Avenue will be reconstructed as a modern roundabout. From Palm Avenue to the roundabout at Pineapple Avenue and Main Street, a 50 year old 8” water main will be replaced with 10” water line. The Palm Avenue parking garage will be located northwest of the Palm Ave. and Main St. intersection. The garage will accommodate approximately 743 vehicle parking spaces, 20 motorcycle spaces and 80 bicycle spaces. It will include 12,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. The existing landscape, foundation and clock will be enhanced with additional palm trees and shrubbery.
