Having acquired sufficient knowledge of the City to understand the interactions of the various departments and their impact on each other. Having breadth and diversity of general and position-related knowledge. Applying technical and professional skills/knowledge in job-related area(s): keeping abreast of current internal and external developments and trends relating to specific area(s) of expertise.

Diversity

Financial Acumen

Improve City operations by making economically sound business decisions based on a thorough understanding of relevant financial information and models.

  • Strategic/Economic Business Planning: Make or support business decisions/
    recommendations that advance the City’s vision
  • Managing Financial Operations: Manage/support financial operations while incorporating business process improvement initiatives
  • Evaluating Business Results: Interpret, analyze and/or prepare financial reports and statements that are used to evaluate the results achieved


Organizational Awareness

Understand the City operation and each department’s role in supporting the City’s objectives and strategies. Understand the City’s vision and mission. Demonstrate awareness of the City’s products, services and resources beyond the immediate work group.
