  "MY IDEA WORKED"

  Here's how you can be an Award Winner, too!!
 

WHAT IS A GOOD SUGGESTION?
 
A good suggestion is a constructive and well thought out proposal designed to improve some phase of the City of Sarasota government operations. It is a plan that will result in savings of time, materials and/or cost of operations. It may also improve service to the public.
  ELIGIBILITY OF SUGGESTIONS?
  Eligible suggestions must be related to the following:

1. Actual savings to the City;
2. Improvements in service to the public without an increase (or with only a nominal increase) in cost;
3. Improvements in safety conditions;
4. Improvements in working conditions;
5. Improvements in work methods;
6. Conservation of energy; or
7. Increased efficiency.
 
However, not all ideas are eligible for award consideration. Awards will not be given for suggestions concerning:
 
1. Grievances or complaints, issues related to negotiated labor contracts, employee retirement fund administration, classification, pay or employee benefits;
2. Suggestions previously submitted to or known by the City whether through the program or otherwise; or
3. All projects generated by a Total Quality Performance Team.
 
AWARDS?
  Once a suggestion, eligible for award, has been accepted by the "My Idea Worked" Awards Committee, it is given an acceptance level.
  Awards Categories: Employees who submit winning suggestions will receive the appropriate sum of money, a letter of commendation signed by the City Manager and a certificate of merit of which a copy is to be placed in their personnel file. There will be five (5) classes of awards consisting of the following:
 
1. Honorable Mention: An idea which results in no monetary savings to the City.
  Award: The City Manager sends the suggestor a letter of commendation of which copies are sent to his/her department head and a copy placed in the employee's personnel file.
2. Commendable: Yearly monetary savings to the City from $100 to $2,499 (after implementation costs).
  Award: "My Idea Worked" award certificate presented by the employee's department head. The suggestor will receive 10% of the first year's savings.
3. Creative: Yearly monetary savings to the City from $2,500 to $9,999 (after implementation costs).
  Award: A framed "My Idea Worked" award certificate presented by the City Manager. The suggestor will receive 10% of the first year's savings.
4. Outstanding: Yearly monetary savings to the City from $10,000 to $19,999 (after implementation costs).
  Award: A framed "My Idea Worked" award certificate presented by the City Manager. The suggestor will receive 10% of the first year's savings.
5. Excellence and Pride Club: Yearly monetary savings to the City of $20,000 or greater (after implementation costs)
  Award: "My Idea Worked" award plaque presented by the Mayor. The suggestor will receive 10% of the first year's savings, not to exceed $2,500.
