Lynette Garrett, Human Resources Specialist I, is usually
the first person a new employee meets after they are hired.
During the sign in process on their first day of work, Lynette’s
friendly, helpful manner makes new employees feel a part of
the City as she makes sure they complete the necessary paperwork
and answers any questions they may have.
Human Resources, like other City departments, had to make
adjustments in certain jobs in order to maintain an acceptable
level of service for our customers. Nowhere is this more evident
than in our recruiting process. The City’s new online
application and hiring system through NEOGOV, has streamlined
the requisition process and eliminated the need for so much
paper.
During the introduction of NEOGOV, the person that had to
make the biggest adjustment was Lynette Garrett. Lynette’s
duties and responsibilities of managing the recruiting and
intake process changed completely.
The intake process has been revamped, paper applications have
been eliminated, and a commitment has been made to have a
quick turn around of applications to the departments. Lynette
took the lead on training the department liaisons so they
can effectively manage their side of the process. She is quick
to work out a solution if a department needs help or wants
to modify their process.
Lynette has managed to have everything about her job change
but she still continues to challenge and change the process
for better efficiency and service.
Congratulations!
