John
Beyer, Landscape Maintenance Tech II, has been with the City
of Sarasota since 2005. John’s best asset is that he
is the epitome of teamwork. He always takes time to help a
co-worker lift, unload, or just pitch in to help.
John is diligent to observe landscape problem areas that need
to be addressed. He cares about the quality of work and will
step in to trim trees, cut back unsightly brush and make sure
the landscape is pleasing to the public.
On the Friday of the Fort Hood tragedy, the City needed to
have all flags at half-mast. John volunteered on short notice
to stay late on that Friday to make sure this got done. While
no one likes to stay late, John felt it was necessary and
important to have the flags at half mast in recognition of
the victims.
A selfless person, John goes the extra mile to assist his
team members. His forward thinking has him creating new ways
to get the job done in a timely manner. He stepped forward
a few months ago to deliver safety instructions on First Aid
to all Public Works/Utility workers at one of the monthly
safety meetings. John served 10 years as an EMT/Paramedic
Instructor teaching medical programs at Manatee Technical
Institute’s east campus from 1993-2003.
As a great organizer, John continuously steps forward to learn
more about the City’s landscaping opportunities. He
is taking the initiative to obtain his Arborist and Florida
Nurseryman’s certification.
John Beyer serves his co-workers and community with excellence
and pride! Congratulations!
