Jane Hindall
Neighborhood Development Services/Office of Housing
& Community Development

Jane was presented
and honored before the City Commission
on Monday, May 3, 2010

Jane Hindall, HCD Program Manager, Neighborhood Development Services, has been with the City since 1995. She handles numerous projects and is always willing to step forward to take on additional responsibilities.

Recently, the City of Sarasota and Sarasota County, through the Office of Housing and Community Development, received a $23 million grant from the federal government for neighborhood stabilization programs, which will includes the construction of Janie’s Garden Phase III. Sarasota is just one of the 56 organizations in the nation to be awarded one of the competitive grants.

Jane’s determination and work ethic helped to bring in $7 million in grant funds for the acquisition of up to 70 homes that are being rehabbed and then sold to low income buyers for their housing needs.

This program is extremely technical and involves communication with 8 non-profit partners as well as ironing out all the legal and technical details for upgrading those properties.

The efforts to put the grant moneys into action is way out of Jane’s normal work area and she has handled the unexpected situations and many hours like a pro! Jane Hindall not only serves as a City of Sarasota employee, but overlaps resources and projects with Sarasota County. She is an excellent employee who exhibits total professionalism all the way around.

Congratulations!
