Jessica
Edwards, Administrative Specialist I, is in touch with the
media on a daily basis. Reporters contact Captain Paul Sutton’s
office requesting copies of SPD matters or other information
referencing arrests or incidents that occur in the City of
Sarasota. Jessica is the go-to person to locate releases to
the media. Occasionally this information can be located in
the Records Unit. Most of the time, the information requested
references an investigation conducted by a Detective in CID.
If there is a concern regarding the release of paperwork,
Jessica will relay that information to SPD personnel and Captain
Sutton can then determine what should be released to the media.
Jessica was most helpful in the week following the double
homicide of the British tourists visiting our City.
She assisted SPD by contacting the Detectives working the
investigation involving the suspect in order to receive information
from a previous incident that reporters – local, national,
and international – requested.
Jessica juggles many different tasks every day. Her focus
in daily problem solving is second to none. She is very organized
and takes great consideration in generating maximum output
despite obstacles in the work area. Her loyalty to this organization
is exceptional. She serves the Sarasota Police Department
with excellence and pride. Congratulations!
