Shirley McLeod, has been with the City of Sarasota since October
2005. Her co-workers observe that she can step in and lend
a helping hand at a moment’s notice.
With the termination of two clerical positions in the Neighborhood
Development Services Department, everyone banned together
to get more done with less hands. Shirley showed that she
could pull more than her fair share.
When business tax renewals were due, Shirley jumped right
in to help with the database entry, answered numerous phone
calls, sent out letters to businesses that needed additional
information and continued to assist her assigned three inspectors.
Shirley keeps a log for her inspectors, calendaring their
activity and reminding them when they are due for their re-inspections
of the property they have cited. She also keeps track of special
projects for the Code Manager, takes care of the letters for
the local business tax department, and continues follow up
of the daily operations.
Shirley has a smile for anyone and everyone that walks through
the code and business tax doors. She exemplifies what the
City of Sarasota is all about. She serves her department and
the community with excellence and pride!
Congratulations!
