Detective
Dave Grant, SPD, has been with the City of Sarasota Police
Department since 1983 where he began his career as a dispatcher.
He moved to the position of detective in 1990. Many hours
of training were involved to place him at the peak of his
performance in the Criminal Investigation Division. Currently,
he is been working in the area of Crimes Against Children.
Detective Grant demonstrates a positive working relationship
with all of his colleagues and other units within the agency.
There is no hesitancy to assist others and he exhibits a proper
attitude when reassigned to foot patrol beats or given additional
crimes to investigate.
As one who won’t let a crime rest, Detective Grant never
gave up during the Zachary Gar Buckley case which led to the
successful return of the child. For this feat, the National
Center for Missing & Expoited Children has recognized
Detective Grant for his diligence in this case.
When a case is given to Detective Grant, he works through
an abundance of documentation. He handles each case with extreme
care. He works very hard to view current cases and statutes.
Research is developed for each case history and useful information
is maintained.
With over 25 years of service to our community, Detective
Dave Grant serves our residents, visitors and the SPD with
excellence and pride!
