Aurelio
Vazquez, Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, has been chosen Employee
of the Year for 2005. He displays an outstanding work ethic and
is very eager to meet the needs of our visitors and co-workers.
Aurelio has been with the City of Sarasota since 1989 when he was
hired to help take care of the Sarasota Mobile Home Park. Since
joining the maintenance staff, improvements were immediately noticed
and the park was well taken care of by Aurelio and his staff.
Many activities took place at the Sarasota Mobile Home Park. The
auditorium was always ready, set up and stocked with refreshments
for the weekly events. Aurelio was instrumental in bringing the
facility to ADA compliancy. Signage was appropriately placed and
restrooms were given additional space for wheelchair accommodations.
With the closing of the Sarasota Mobile Home Park in 2002, Aurelio
was brought over to City Hall. Since then there have been many written
positive comments regarding his work ethics, his diligence to make
sure the buildings are welcoming and spotless, and his willingness
to seek out the needs of the internal customers.
Aurelio makes serious decisions to achieve certifications and advanced
education. He has achieved licensing to run special equipment and
has tested, through HR, to assist in the language barrier.
Praises continue to come forward when Aurelio was placed at the
Federal Building. He takes pride in the new facility by constantly
monitoring the A/C system, keeping the building in order and assisting
employees in transporting equipment to and from the main City Hall
building. He assists many customers who need to communicate through
translation and is always readily available to do so.
Aurelio Vazquez was recognized at the City Commission meeting on
Tuesday, February 21, 2006. Congratulations!
