Concetta Hollinger, Sarasota Police Department

Concetta was presented and honored
before the City Commission on
Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Concetta Hollinger was recognized as the City of Sarasota Employee of the Month for July 2009. Since that honor was given, Concetta has continued to serve the community going above and beyond the call of duty.

The many tasks, responsibilities and passion for her position as Victim Advocate Coordinator take her in many directions. Most recently she has begun an intern program with the University of South Florida mentoring students interested in this field of work. This is not an easy job since training requires comprehensive study of the elements of crisis response.

In addition to the exemplary customer service skills Concetta brings to the Police Department, she has stepped up to complete a list of domestic violence victims and meets with them on a regular basis to see if everything is going in a positive direction.

She continues efforts and guidance towards additional resources helping to bring some sort of normalcy back into the lives of those victims. She manages to assist them through court processes and provides additional resources where needed.

The holidays are very hard on a lot of families who have experienced a crisis in their lives. Concetta stays with the victims to make sure that these tough times become a little easier.

Regular duties are never set aside as the response to call outs can come at any time, day or night. Training sessions may be very intense as updated courses consist of psychological first aid, factors of trauma, stress reactions, spiritual issues, situations with the elderly, dealing with death and notifying family members of a death.

Congratulations!
