Emergency Information

If at any time you discover a fire on City properties, IMMEDIATELY report the location of the fire by calling the emergency telephone number 911 (Must dial 9 to get an outside line). The Fire-Rescue Department will respond to the call.

Alert those in the vicinity of the fire so that employees are kept at a safe distance from any possible danger. Remain calm and above all, KEEP YOUR FELLOW EMPLOYEES CALM! Keep in mind that most fires can be contained and taken care of immediately after being reported.

As a continuing precaution, get to know where the alarm boxes and fire extinguisher nearest the areas where you work are located. Read the instructions and know how to use this equipment.

Know, also, where the closest fire exits and fire hydrants are located. If you use the alarm system, you should be available when the fire personnel arrive so that you can point out the exact locations.

911 (Must dial 9 to get an outside line) is also the number to call for emergencies requiring the attention of the Police Department such as burglary, theft or other crimes. In the event of an accident or sudden illness, such as a heart attack, call the emergency number 911 (Must dial 9 to get an outside line), or use the alarm box system. Give the exact location of the victim and wait until the ambulance arrives.
