  1. How do I get a restraining order?

On weekdays contact the Clerk of Courts, Circuit Civil for Domestic Violence at 861-7683. On weekends, contact the Sarasota County Sheriff, Civil Division, 951-5100.

  2. How do I obtain a trespass warning for someone?

Contact Police Communications, 316-1199, and a police officer will respond. The owner or manager will then issue the warning in the presence of the police officer who will document the warning for records purposes.

  3. Where do I get fingerprints taken?

Contact the Sarasota Police Department Crime Lab at 954-7035. There is a Ten ($10.00) dollar fee.

  4. Who do I call about animal problems?

Contact Police Communications at 911 if it is an emergency or 316-1199 for non-emergencies. A determination will be made to send a police officer and/or County Animal Control.

  5. What can be done about abandoned(inoperable) vehicles on private property?

Contact the City's Code Compliance Department, 954-4125.

  6. How do I find out what a City ordinance says?

Copies of any City ordinance can be obtained at the City Clerk's Office, 954-4160, and at the City Clerk's homepage at the City of Sarasota's Web site WWW.SARASOTAGOV.COM

  7. How do I get a copy of a police report?

Three working days following the incident the report will be available to the public. Copies are obtained in the records section of the Police Department located in the front lobby area. You may call ahead to order your copies from the Records Department, 954-7045. There is a charge to obtain these records. The records window is open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:45pm. And until noon on Thursdays.

  8. Where do I pay a parking ticket or a traffic citation?

Parking tickets may be paid at the Parking Collections window in the lobby area at City Hall. You may pay by either personal check(made out to the City of Sarasota), money order, or with cash. . You may also mail(no cash) your payment to: 2050 Ringling Blvd. Sarasota, Florida 34237. Traffic citation fines may be paid at the Clerk of Court for Sarasota County, 362-4066, by personal check(made to attention: Karen Rushing, Clerk of Circuit Court), money order, cash, and some major credit cards are accepted.

  9. What can I do about vehicles speeding in my neighborhood?

Contact Sarasota Police Department, Traffic Division, 954-7020.

  10. What can I do about harassing phone calls?

Contact the Sarasota Police Department, 316-1199, to make a report of the calls. You will then be instructed to contact your telephone service provider for further instructions.

  11. What can I do about my child if I believe they are using drugs?

Attempt to ask your child pertinent questions about their possible use of drugs. If necessary contact a local treatment provider for further instructions. A police officer can respond if you have located what you believe to be illegal substances.

  12. How do I have someone evicted?
