Homeless Strategies

There are many causes of homelessness in our society. During difficult economic times, families can find themselves behind in their bills or even homeless if job loss occurs. Natural disasters, domestic abuse or illness may tear families apart and leave victims without housing options and hungry. Many times, these families will have no one to help them overcome their crisis.

It is for these reasons that OHCD works with non-profit providers to encourage homeless facilities and services in our area. OHCD provides no direct services, instead state and federal grant monies are supplied to non-profit agencies that will deliver quality housing and other services to our homeless population. Currently, OHCD is working with non-profit partners to provide a transitional housing facility in North County and an emergency shelter for women and children.
