Traffic Signals
City Workers Repairing Traffic Lights

Traffic Signals operated under the jurisdiction of the City of Sarasota fall into two categories. The first is signals under City control, this means that all of the timing and maintenance is the responsibility of the City. The second category is multi-jurisdictional, that means that the responsibility is shared between agencies. For example, signals on the State roadway system, (US 41, US 301, Fruitville Road). The City performs the maintenance of the signals, but the FDOT is responsible for the timing of the signals. Other examples are between the City and the County, where one agency is responsible for timing and the other is responsible for maintenance.
