Water/Sewer Connection Program

Sarasota County, through the Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD), provides an interest free loan to help income eligible families connect to public water and sewer systems. The funds can be used to cover the assessment fees, capital charges, capacity fees and costs to connect to the public system as well as the abandonment of the private well and septic tank. The homeowner selects the contractor that will do the work. There are no monthly payments on the loan. Instead the homeowner repays the loan when the home is sold, transferred, no longer occupied by the borrower or 30 years, whichever occurs first.

Applicants connecting to the Sarasota Utility system lines that are being completed should wait until they receive notification from Sarasota County. At that time, they can apply for the OHCD assistance.

Guidelines

Homeowners unable to qualify for OHCD assistance to connect to the Sarasota County Utility System may be able to receive a low interest loan from the Sarasota Utility Department. Information on that program may be found below.
