FREE TROLLEY SERVICE
Sarasota, FL: To help reduce the high volume of vehicles trying to access Lido Key for the upcoming Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival, complimentary trolley rides will be offered between the Palm Avenue Garage and Lido Beach Pavilion.
Four trolley cars will operate continuously on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Pick up and drop off points will be located on the ground floor of the Palm Avenue Garage and Lido Beach Pavilion.
Festival goers are encouraged to use the free service to alleviate traffic and parking congestion on Lido Key.
“If we can reduce the number of cars on Lido Key by even 200 that will be a significant positive impact on the community,” said Mark Lyons, Parking Manager. “We encourage everyone to consider alternative ways to get to the powerboat races: trolley, ride sharing, walking, bicycling, maybe even kayaking. This effort will help keep parking smart, safe and sustainable.”
Parking regulations will be enforced on Lido Key during the powerboat races, particularly violations which may be a public safety concern (including, but not limited to, parking on sidewalks. blocking street corners and obscuring stop sign visibility).
Right-of-way parking on the street shoulder will be permissible during the races. Drivers should never be charged a fee to park on the public right-of-way.
The free trolley service is being funded via two generous donations to Suncoast Charities for Children from the Downtown Improvement District and A.D. Morgan.
The Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Festival is produced by and proceeds benefit the Suncoast Charities for Children.
