CITY OFFICES CLOSE FOR HOLIDAY;
19TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION; FREE PARKING ON MLK DAY

Sarasota, FL: City of Sarasota administration offices will be closed Monday, January 16, 2012 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Regular City Commission meeting will be held the following day, Tuesday, January 17 at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Commission Chambers in City Hall, 1565 First Street.

Weekly garbage and recycling collection will not be impacted.

Paid public parking will not be enforced Monday, January 16, including parking meters, pay stations and the Palm Ave. Garage.

The 19th annual MLK Celebration and Walk, sponsored by the Greater Newtown Community Redevelopment Corporation, will include the following:

Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. - Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th St.
Breakfast is open to the public with $15 admission per person. Reservations are suggested. RSVP by calling: 941-358-7860.

Walk: 11 a.m. - Robert L. Taylor Community Complex to MLK Park (MLK Way and Cocoanut Avenue)

Celebration: Noon - 6 p.m. - MLK Park
The event will include music, food and entertainment.
