REPORT PROVIDES EASY TO UNDERSTAND
Sarasota, FL: The second annual Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), a brief easy to understand document outlining the City’s financial position ending September 30, 2014, is now available to the public. The PAFR, produced by the Finance Department, provides a transparent overview of where City funds come from and how they are spent. The report is now available on City of Sarasota homepage at www.SarasotaGov.com.
Just ten pages, the PAFR is an abbreviated version of the City’s Comprehensive Annual Report, which is 200 pages. The PAFR uses layman’s terms and colorful charts to outline the City’s assets, liabilities, revenues, expenditures, investments and annual financial planning.
“We realize some government finance reports can be quite technical and laden with terminology that only finance experts understand,” said Finance Director John Lege. “The Popular Report is a simple guide to the City’s financial position. It helps promote transparency and understanding of the City’s finances.”
Other government professionals are recognizing the high quality and conciseness of the report. The inaugural PAFR, last year, was honored recently by the Government Finance Officers Association for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting.
