STATE STREET TEMPORARY CLOSURES
BEGIN MARCH 30;
Sarasota, FL: Temporary closures on State Street near Lemon Avenue and Orange Avenue will begin Monday, March 30 as construction crews start the exterior façade work on the State Street Garage, replace an aging utility line, and install new sidewalks near the new public parking structure.
Extensive signage indicating ‘Business Open’ will be placed at each end of the street closure area, and pedestrian access to all nearby businesses will be maintained. The Farmers Market will remain open.
During the temporary street closures, to help facilitate parking for impacted businesses, valet parking service will be offered for State Street business customers Monday - Friday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, at the northeast corner of State Street and Lemon Avenue. (Hours will be evaluated and will be subject to change.) Regular valet service for Hyde Park customers will continue after 4 p.m. seven days a week.
The scheduled closures and dates are:
March 30 – April 10: State Street, between Lemon Avenue and Orange Avenue, will be closed to thru traffic during the day. The closure is necessary while crews hang the pre-cast panels on the face of the State Street Garage.
April 6 – April 7: The State Street-Orange Avenue intersection will be closed to thru traffic. The closure is necessary while crews connect a new water main at Orange Avenue.
April 13 – May 15: State Street, between Lemon Avenue and Orange Avenue, will be narrowed to one lane, with the assistance of flagmen, to allow vehicular traffic in both directions around the active work zone. The lane closure is necessary while crews install a new water main and make new water service connections.
May 18 – June 12: State Street in front of the Garage will have intermittent lane closures. These closures are necessary while new sidewalks are constructed and the road is repaved with new asphalt.
